As our main ministry is to give Christian formation to people, our field of apostolate is wherever there is someone who desires to grow in their spiritual life. A large part of our apostolate is focused on spiritual direction. We meet people on a one-to-one basis either at our convent or at the St. Paul's Center (University of Wisconsin) or St. Lawrence Center (University of Kansas). We believe that what is known as 're-evangelization' is a pressing need of modern society. Although Christianity has been present in the Western culture for centuries, there is ever more a call for a spiritual re-awakening. There are many who know of Christ but who do not know Christ. Therefore, we also stop young people in the streets, on university campuses, on buses and trains, challenging them to go deeper in their intellectual knowledge and spiritual understanding of the Christian faith. We are often invited to preach spiritual exercises and days of recollection in parishes and retreat houses. This gives us a chance to meet people from different dioceses and parishes. This is one of the most common ways in which priests and bishops get to know about us, from the experiences of their parishioners at our retreats. Throughout the years, we have developed an apostolate to prepare engaged and married couples to live out the fullness of a Christian marriage. We meet the couples in their homes and in the parish centers. The Apostles of the Interior Life are currently present in Italy and the United States. |
